Horticulture and its importance

1. India is the second world’s largest producer of fruits and vegetables.

फल तथा सब्जियों के उत्पादन मैं भारत का विशव में दूसरा स्थान है

2. In the Latin Language, the word Hortus means Garden and cultura means cultivation.

लैटिन भाषा के शब्द Hortus का अर्थ  Garden  तथा cultura का अर्थ cultivation है ।

3. Horticulture crops are of high value but labour intensive.

बागवानी  फसलें उच्च मूल्य की होती हैं लेकिन श्रम गहन होती हैं । 

4. India is the world’s largest producer of okra.

भारत विश्व में भिन्डी का सबसे बड़ा उत्पादक है ।

5. India is the first largest producer of banana in the world.

भारत विश्व में केले का पहला  सबसे बड़ा उत्पादक है ।

6. The gardening of crops like Tea, mango, coconut etc are grown in slappy lands.

चाय, आम, नारियल आदि फसलों की बागवानी ढीली भूमि मैं की जाती है ।

Q.6 What is horticulture?

Ans. The word horticulture has been derieved from the latin words i.e Hortus (Garden) and cultura (Cultivation) which means garden cultivation.

प्र०6 बागवानी क्या है?

उ०. बागवानी लेटिन भाषा के दो शब्दों Hortus तथा cultura से मिलकर बना है जिसका अर्थ है  गार्डन कल्टीवेशन ।

    Ans. Horticulture Crops:

I. Important source of nutrients, vitamins, minerals, smell, fiber etc.

II. Beauty is the protector of dreams and the environment.

III. Production per unit area is high.

IV. It can also be reached in mountainous and inaccessible areas.

V. can also be grown in low quality soil.

2. सौन्दर्य सपनं तथा पर्यावरण का सरंक्षक करने वाली है ।

3. का प्रति इकाई क्षेत्रफल उत्पादनअधिक होता है ।

4. को पर्वतीय तथा दुर्गम क्षेत्रों  मैं भी आया जा सकता है ।

5. को निम्ण गुणवक्ता वाली मिटटी मैं भी उगाया जा सकता है ।

Q.9 What are the prospects for horticulture crops in India?

Ans. Indian climate is suitable for most of the fruits, vegetables and medicinal plants. Most of the Indian population is vegetarian and is currently health conscious. Hence fruits and vegetables are in high demand. Therefore, there is immense potential in India for horticultural crops.

प्र०9 बागवानी फसलों के लिए भारत में क्या संभावनाएँ है  ?

उ०.भारतीय जलवायु अधिकांश फलों, सब्ज़िओं तथा ओषधीरा पौंधो के लिए उपयुक्त है । अधिकांश भारतीय जनसँख्या शाकाहारी है और वर्तमान में स्वास्थ्य के प्रति जागरूक भी है। इसलिए फल और सब्जियाँ अत्यधिक मांग है । इसलिए बागवानी फसलों के लिए भारत में अपार संभावनाएँ है  ।

Q.10 What is the reason for the increasing potential in horticulture crops sector?

Ans. There is immense potential for the production of horticultural crops in India and the following are the reasons:-
